    Wesleyan University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for one full-time Visiting Instructor/ Professor of Chemistry for the 2025-2026 academic year. The visitor will be the instructor and administrator for the department’s two-semester, sophomore-level laboratory course sequence: Intermediate Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM257) and Organic Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM258). The visitor will be responsible for the planning and execution of the overall course curriculum, as well as compliance with safety and chemical hygiene protocols, management of assigned teaching/course assistants, proper stewardship of the laboratory spaces, and prompt grading and return of student work. The teaching load will include the direct instruction of 4 lab sections, an appropriate amount of in-person office hours, and coordination with a part-time instructor assigned to 2-3 additional lab sections.

     

    Candidates must have a master's degree or higher in chemistry or another related field; a Ph.D. is required to be hired at the Visiting Professor level. Special consideration will be given to candidates with previous experience in teaching comparable laboratory courses and expertise with a variety of standard laboratory instrumentation.
