Compensation

$41.03 per hour

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and/or Site Manager, the Plant Mechanic is responsible to work independently on all maintenance and repair tasks within the aggregate plant.

Main Responsibilities

+ Examines and diagnoses problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methods. Discusses extensive or difficult in depth repairs with Foreman and/or Site Manager

+ Performs routine scheduled maintenance as outlined by the Foreman and/or the Site Manager

+ Removes components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to; motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, rollers, conveyor belts, v-belts, pumps, screens, crushers etc.

+ Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failure

+ Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems, and components

+ Inspects and replaces parts such as crusher liners, screen media, etc.

+ Overhauls or rebuilds serviceable components

+ Performs major welding and cutting -- must pass a welding/cutting test (certification strongly preferred)

+ Performs other duties as assigned

Skills

+ 5 years minimum experience or similar industry experienced preferred

+ Must have knowledge of welding material, welding properties, and various type of metals

+ Must have welding experience

+ Must be able to perform bracing, welding, arc-welding and cutting tasks

+ Must know how to use tools required for the job

+ Must be able to change crusher liners without guidance of the Foreman and/or Site Manager

Physical Requirements

+ Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, crawl, and climb

+ Good vision (naturally or with correction)

+ Able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis

+ Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold

+ Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE

+ Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
