Job Description
The mission of the Academic and Student Affairs Department is to support students, mitigate barriers, and help them achieve success. The Assistant to the Dean provides executive, administrative, and analytical support to the Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) deans in a wide variety of areas including: special projects, budgets, faculty appraisal, correspondence, maintenance of the deans’ calendars, and problem solving for day-to-day operations. This position will coordinate activities on the deans’ behalf, act as liaison to both internal and external stakeholders, independently identify issues or problems within the department and research issues, prioritize tasks, and work with a high degree of confidentiality.
This position will support deans at both campuses and the home campus will be the Rapids campus. This position will currently be working a hybrid/remote schedule and is subject to change based on the needs of the college.
**Salary Range:** $20.45 -$27.12/hour
Minimum Qualifications
+ Word processing skills for preparing correspondence, financial statements, reports, and other documents utilizing correct spelling, grammar and punction.
+ Keyboarding skills to type a variety of documents accurately, sufficient to produce forms, memoranda and other materials in an efficient manner.
+ Customer service skills to collaborate and communicate professionally, tactfully, and discreetly with faculty, staff, and administration regarding complex issues while making independent decisions regarding workload priorities.
+ Spreadsheet skills to develop and modify electronic spreadsheets and to compile, store and retrieve data to prepare a variety of reports using software such as Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualification
+ Self-motivating skills including ability to set priorities, anticipate needs, work under the pressure of deadlines with accuracy and a high attention to detail.
+ Working knowledge of a variety of software programs.
+ Ability to make recommendations for change and implement college policies and procedures as they affect ASA functions (academic and student affairs and customized training and continuing education).
+ Ability to maintain student record systems for the purpose of completing special projects and to prepare reports of these studies.
+ Problem solving skills to resolve issues independently, handle unusual situations and exercise good judgment.
+ Experience working with confidential information and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality of private information.
+ Demonstrated commitment and success working in a diverse, multi-cultural, and multiracial community.
