Description We are in the search for a Technical Accounting Manager to join our team. As a Technical Accounting Manager, you will be committed to staying updated on all U.S. GAAP and SEC developments relevant to our business and financial reporting. You will also be instrumental in improving and maintaining our SOX control framework, and will serve as the subject matter expert on accounting guidance, standards, and reporting requirements for our company.
Responsibilities
• Analyze and interpret guidance to determine the proper accounting treatment for significant and/or unusual transactions by reviewing transaction documents, researching accounting guidance, and writing technical accounting memos
• Ensure compliance with the relevant financial reporting standards by assessing the impact of new U.S. GAAP and SEC pronouncements
• Improve and maintain a robust SOX compliant control environment
• Provide direction and guidance to the accounting organization to ensure all activities are recorded and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors during the implementation process of new standards and in the execution of the audits specific to technical accounting matters
• Assist in the adoption and implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes
• Lead or participate in special projects related to technical accounting matters, including mergers and acquisitions, for the organization
• Build and maintain cross-functional and collaborative relationships with colleagues across Accounting and Finance, Operational Departments, Legal, and others, ensuring the relationships support overall Company, business, function, and departmental goals. Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX
• 5 years of relevant work experience, of which 3 years should be in public accounting or a technical accounting role
• Active CPA license
Desired Qualities:
• Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and prepare concise, thorough, and complete accounting memos that document a transaction’s impact on the Company’s financial statements
• Highly driven and self-motivated, with a hands-on approach to ensure high-quality deliverables are produced timely
• Strong project and time management skills
• Experience in training, developing and mentoring staff
• Ability to coordinate a complete project from inception to completion, incorporating feedback from multiple sources and stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate articulately, confidently, and professionally across many organizational levels and functions; and effectively build rapport with stakeholders
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing projects, organize information and manage requests/assignments in a timely manner
• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and implement solutions
• Ability to present in front of a large group the accounting conclusions reached for certain transactions
• Demonstrated ability to garner support from direct reports, peers, and colleagues from other departments
• Demonstrated leadership ability through previous work assignments
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
