Description
Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to spend about threequarters of their time in teaching responsibilities.
Examples of Duties
+ Teaches 15 hours per week of courses in developmental writing, English Composition, and literature/creative writing
+ Maintains a minimum of three office hours per week
+ Develops and teaches appropriate course content for classroom, remote, and online delivery that conforms to current specifications for accessibility
+ Communicates and executes classroom plans effectively
+ Clarifies to students the expectations and standards for all assignments, assessments and class activities
+ Advises students and shows concern for their academic welfare, providing assistance with coursework and setting goals
+ Pursues professional development and increased knowledge in pedagogy and the disciplines of composition and literature through avenues such as self- and graduate study, workshops and conferences
+ Collaborates with other English faculty to select instructional resources
+ Assists in development of an effective means of evaluating and establishing clearly defined grading standards and procedures, maintaining course consistency and academic rigor
+ Adheres to departmental and college policies
+ Participates in curriculum development and revision
+ Participates in departmental course assessment and program review activities
+ Responds to college needs, engaging in college-wide committee work, recruitment activities, student advising, community outreach and other tasks as needed
Typical Qualifications
Education:
+ Master’s degree in English or related discipline
Experience:
+ Two years of teaching experience, specifically instructing composition and developmental English.
+ Experience teaching Accelerated Learning Program courses a plus
+ Experience with WCAG/accessibility compliance a plus
Competencies and Skills:
+ Demonstrated teaching excellence with diverse student populations
+ Strong communication and writing skills
+ Ability to deliver course instruction on the ground in the classroom, remotely through Zoom or a comparable video conferencing software and online through Blackboard or a comparable LMS
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Google Docs and Slides

Terms of Employment:
+ This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
