    Description

    Tyler Houk (Practice Director) is in search of a Chief Financial Officer to join our team in the non-profit sector based in Fresno, California. In this role, you will be at the helm of our organization's overall financial operations, offering expert guidance on financial strategies, planning, and policies. You will also be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in non-profit financial management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the organization's complete financial operations, devising and implementing effective financial strategies and plans.

    • Supervise all financial functions including general and cost accounting, financial planning, budgeting, and treasury operations.

    • Stay updated and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, adhering to best practices in non-profit financial management.

    • Provide expert advice to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial strategies, policies, and potential risks, aligning financial objectives with the organization's mission and goals.

    • Manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports such as monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, cash flow, and accounts receivable reports.

    • Conduct detailed analysis of financial performance, pinpointing variances from budget, predicting future trends, and identifying opportunities or challenges in financial operations.

    • Develop and present financial statements to the CEO and Board of Directors, comparing current performance to previous periods and forecasts.

    • Work closely with the CEO to develop a rolling 3-year financial forecast in alignment with the organization's strategic plan.

    • Ensure accurate maintenance of all fiscal records and supervise the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable financial standards.

    • Oversee the organization's cash flow, investments, and asset management, ensuring optimal use of financial resources.

    • Implement approved accounting practices across the organization to ensure reliable and transparent financial reporting.

    • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets, collaborating with department heads to allocate resources effectively and align financial goals with operational needs.

    • Provide financial assessments and recommendations for future growth opportunities, capital expenditures, and other initiatives from a fiscal perspective.

    • Manage the long-term financial planning process, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals, while ensuring sustainability and growth.

    • Lead the organization's risk management strategy, including administering necessary insurance coverage to protect the organization from financial risk.

    • Establish and enforce corporate financial policies and procedures to ensure the protection of assets and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

    • Work in close collaboration with the CEO, senior management team, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment of financial and operational strategies with organizational objectives.

    • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and ethical culture within the finance team and throughout the organization.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position

    • Proven ability in capital management and cash flow analysis

    • Expertise in budgeting and forecasting

    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and financial modeling

    • Experience with grant accounting in a non-profit context

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or related advanced degree preferred

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is desirable

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

    • Excellent leadership and team management skills

    • Proficient in using financial software and Office Suite

    • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

    • Ability to strategize and solve problems

    • Strong communication and people skills

    • Knowledge of data analysis and risk management

    • Prior experience working with non-profit organizations is a plus.
