Savannah Technical College seeks part-time Instructors for the Historic Preservation program, based at the Savannah Campus. The instructor is responsible for teaching students in classroom, laboratory, and construction environments. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction
+ Developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives
+ Delivering instruction, performing live laboratory demonstrations, and assessing student progress
+ Coordinate and oversee off campus occupational experiences
+ Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory area
+ Requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment
+ Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate
+ Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architecture, Architectural History or related field from an accredited college or university.
+ Must have demonstrated professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Plaster, Decorative Finishes, Carpentry, Ceramics Faux Finishes or Masonry restoration and replication.
+ Three (3) years of Historic Preservation and Restoration work experience within the past seven (7) years
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architecture, Architectural History or related field from a accredited college or university.
+ Teaching experience at a secondary or postsecondary institution.
Physical Demands Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/laboratory/construction environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts objects up to 50LBS. The work is performed in buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring.
Salary/Benefits Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Successful candidate must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days.
