Under direct supervision of nurse manager, schedules oncology patients for treatment regimens involving multiple appointments, and complex requirements, by coordinating such factors as schedule for administration of drugs, availability of infusion chairs, physician availability, and appointments within and outside of Hematology and Oncology (Lab, Radiology, etc.) to best meet patient needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
+ Based on Physician orders, creates multiple (up to 20 or more) appointments to establish a treatment cycle.
+ Modifies schedule as necessary based on cancellations or other factors to achieve delivery of treatments in the desired sequence.
+ Works directly with patients to develop the most timely and convenient cycle of appointments for the patient according to infusion specifications in conjunction with patient’s requirements and other appointments.
+ Performs duties relative to the booking process of patients requiring a doctor visit, infusion, lab, and any related appointments needed outside of Hematology and Oncology.
+ Schedules oncology patients for treatment regimens involving multiple appointments, and complex requirements, by coordinating such factors as schedule for administration of drugs, availability of infusion chairs, physician availability, and appointments within and outside of Oncology (Lab, Radiology, etc.) to best meet patient needs.
+ Manages and communicates information through various processes, which include, but are not limited to the following: computers and telephone/paging systems.
+ Consistently maintains a courteous, helpful, and professional manner with all interactions with all customers.
+ Schedule patients for Cancer Center departments including Hematology and Oncology, infusion (chemotherapy or non-chemotherapy), and all related external appointments related to patient treatment plan such as labs, bone density, social work, and etc.
+ Obtain the most timely and convenient appointment for the patient according to infusion specifications in conjunction with patient's other appointments.
+ Provides support and information to providers to problem solve and manage complex scheduling issues.
+ Ensures that patients received notification/calendar and understands appointment schedule.
+ Work collaboratively with frontline nursing staff, providers, clinical nurse leaders, and charge nurse to address complex scheduling issues in a timely manner.
+ Performs the daily management of encounter form processing and reconcilement.
+ Ensures the completeness of all forms and performs basic ICD-9 coding, as required to complete visit encounter forms for processing.
+ Provides cross coverage for other Practice staff members for absences, vacations, etc. and during variations in workflow, as needed. Maintains confidentiality and privacy, which is consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
Assists with training and orientation of new staff, where applicable. Performs all other related tasks which would facilitate the flow of patients through the practice, or which would enhance the quality of service to patients. Works on special projects as directed. Assists co-workers when short-staffed and performs a variety of other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent work experience in a hospital or physician office setting preferred. Completion of Medical Terminology Course or relevant experience.

Experience** **:
Strong communication skills and exceptional customer service skills are critical.
1 years experience in medical environment. Familiarity with policies and procedures, understanding of scheduling requirements and medical terminology.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities** **:
Epic, G Suite.
Ability to work face to face with patients in a professional and empathetic manner to create the optimal schedule to deliver treatments and meet patient’s needs.
