    The role you’ll contribute:

    The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Coordinator is an ECMO Specialist that provides clinical expertise in their specialist area to optimize patient, family, nurse, and team outcomes. Coordinator actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Serves as primary owner responsible for evaluation, training, and management of ECMO activities and associates in the assigned area. The ECMO coordinator assists with the development of policies, procedures, guidelines, delegation, and implementation of protocols that follow Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) registry. Establishes and maintains relationships with customers, including physicians, administrators, perfusion, respiratory, and staff. Works with operational leadership team in development and maintain ECMO business for quality and excellence promoting AHT as an ECMO Center. ECMO coordinator will participate in data collection and accurate record keeping and data entry with ELSO. Performs ECMO procedures and coordinates ECMO activities at the institution to achieve targeted quality outcomes in compliance with ELSO guidelines and recommendations. This position assists with directing ECMO daily operations and participates in direct patient care to optimize outcomes in a fiscally responsible manner. The ECMO Specialist Coordinator supports the practice of ECMO delivery processes through direct care, presentations, collaborative practice, ongoing education, and knowledge of industry standards to establish clinical best practices.

    The value you’ll bring to the team:

    + Provides clinical expertise and supervision while patient is on ECMO. Including collaboration and discussion with ECMO physicians and care team.

    + Direct supervision of ECMO specialists and support for on-call.

    + Maintain accountability over ECMO program including training and recruitment for new ECMO specialists.

    + Provides ongoing education for ECMO specialists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians, and perfusionists.

    The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

    Required qualifications:

    + Associate's of Nursing, or Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy, or

    + Graduate of a Cardiopulmonary Science program.

    + 3 of experience as an RN, RRT, or ECMO Specialist/Coordinator in an acute-care setting within the last five years.

    + RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure.

    + RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist

    + BCLS - Basic Life Support

    + ACLS

    Preferred qualifications:

    + Bachelor's of Nursing or Bachelor’s in related healthcare field, or Master's of Nursing, or Master’s in related healthcare field.

    + 1 of critical care or palliative care experience for patients with life-limiting or life-threatening illness.

    + 1 of Ventricular Assist Device experience.

    + 1 of teaching/preceptor experience.
