    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the direction of the Tool Room Supervisor, department lead, or higher classified journeyman, this position will perform entry-level Tool & Die Maker criteria and progress through a series of established skill criteria applicable to maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing stamping dies, die components and production tooling leading to Journeyman level. Skill development will be reviewed periodically.

     

    Under supervised guidance, interpret complex component drawings; produce parts to print tolerances; maintain dies, die components and tooling; install and adjust die and tooling as necessary. Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc.

     

    Comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent. Successfully complete a basic skills inventory.

     

    Successful completion of the following: Blueprint Reading (606-111), Applied Math I & II (804-370; 804-371), and Precision Measuring (623-185) classes.

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings, and safely operate tool room machinery.

     

    Demonstrated understanding of modern punch press principles.

     

    Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with whole numbers and decimals; understand geometric functions and perform basic calculations; and perform trigonometry calculations as needed.

     

    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, lead personnel, and supervisors.

     

    Ability to work with minimum supervision while maintaining acceptable levels of productivity.
