    Description

    We are offering an employment opportunity for a Network Administrator in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. As a Network Administrator, you'll be tasked with providing technical support for our LAN/WAN network. Your extensive knowledge in IT operations, cloud technologies and networking will be essential in maintaining network functions and ensuring efficient operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

    + Monitor the performance and availability of network devices using tools such as Nagios and Splunk.

    + Respond to network alerts, investigate issues, and escalate them to senior engineers for resolution as necessary.

    + Troubleshoot network connectivity and device performance issues to ensure prompt resolution.

    Network Administration:

    + Support the administration of Cisco Prime for device monitoring and management.

    + Assist in configuring and maintaining network device settings using Cisco Prime.

    + Generate performance reports and device health summaries using Cisco Prime tools.

    Network Security:

    + Help configure and maintain Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, security policies, and guest-management settings.

    + Support the enforcement of network security segmentation and policies to ensure a safe operating environment.

    + Perform basic network security tasks like firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration backups.

    Documentation & Reporting:

    + Document network configurations, infrastructure changes, and troubleshooting steps for internal record-keeping.

    + Generate detailed reports on network performance, uptime, and security incidents for the IT team and management.

    + Update network diagrams and documentation to reflect infrastructure adjustments.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field; equivalent certifications or experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

    + 1–2 years of experience in network administration or IT support, with hands-on exposure to network monitoring tools and technologies.

    Technical Skills:

    + Basic experience with network monitoring tools such as Nagios and Splunk.

    + Familiarity with Cisco Prime for device monitoring and management.

    + Understanding of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control and security policies.

    + Strong knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, HTTP).

    + Solid understanding of network security tools and best practices.

    + Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic network issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers as required.

    Communication Skills:

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across IT teams and create detailed documentation.

    Desirable Skills:

    + Familiarity with wireless networking and Cisco wireless solutions.

    + Basic knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and general network security practices.

    + Exposure to cloud networking and integration with platforms such as AWS or Azure.

    + Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
