The Director of Nursing is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight for the pulmonary, advance care, transitional care unit, medical oncology and med surg unit. She/he works closely with the MVH Chief Nursing Officer in developing and maintaining standards of productivity, standards of care, scope of service, and policy for areas of responsibility. She/he is responsible for implementation of nursing process and maintenance of the values and philosophy which promote/direct quality patient care as overseen by the Chief Nursing Officer.
The Director is responsible for the management of all administrative activities that include day to day planning, organizing, coordination, control, and evaluation for outpatient and inpatient services in collaboration with medical staff and other administrative staff members.
The Director communicates appropriate information in a timely manner to the Chief Nursing Officer regarding the impact of hospital and departmental strategic decisions.
The Director has operational oversight related to hospital capacity and throughput. The Director communicates and collaborates with appropriate executive leadership in relation to overall hospital operations/needs. This includes Hospital Incident Commands System (HICS) training for emergency preparedness, disaster management, and leading of incident command. The Director is assigned lead roles within the hospital incident command system.
The Director facilitates the strategic execution of the Premier Health nursing vision through prioritizing employee engagement and performance improvement. The Director demonstrates a commitment to diversity that cultivates an inclusive and culturally competent environment where people want to work, and patients want to receive care. The Director is responsible for coaching and developing the nursing leadership team, as well as mentoring Nurse managers to do the same. The Director demonstrates human resource management and leadership skills as the chief retention and recruitment leader for their areas of responsibility.
Education
**Minimum Level of Education Required:** Master's degree
Additional requirements:
• **Type of degree** : Bachelor’s Degree
• **Area of study or major** : Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with Master’s Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, or Business Administration
Licensure/Certification/Registration
• Registered Nurse in State of Ohio
Experience
**Minimum Level of Experience Required:** 3 - 5 years of job related experience
**Prior job title or occupational experience:** minimum 3 years Progressive hospital nursing leadership required
