    Job Overview:

    RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Certified Medical Assistant in Somerville, NJ. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    + Completion of a formal Certified Medical Assistance program

    + At least six months experience

    Preferred:

    + Experience with or interest in LGBTQ+ health highly preferred

    Certifications and Licenses Required:

    + CMA Certification

    + BLS Certification from AHA

    Scheduling Requirements:

    + Day Shift, 40 hours/week

    + Full-Time Schedule

    Essential Functions:

    + Works as a member of the healthcare team to promote continuity of patient care with the providers

    + Assures that medical assistance is promptly and readily available when needed by the healthcare providers

    + Administers medication, support and educate patients with injection training, handles prior authorizations, and assists providers as needed

    + Prepares patients for provider examination and informs patients of the process and what to expect

    + Compiles and records pertinent patient data for office visits and follow up patient care in EMR

    + Uses EMR for office communication

    + Maintains competency in medical assistant skills through continuing education

    + Keeps personal learning records and competency documents up to date

    + Assures organization and cleanliness of and maintains stock items in the office, lab, the examination rooms and procedure rooms

    + Discreet handling of confidential information A flexible, rotating schedule to include some evening hours as dictated by patient volume, physician availability and practice expansion

    + Train new staff and create a productive medical practice team

    + Treats all patients with respect, dignity, compassion and concern
