    We are seeking a **_Sr. Financial Analyst, Central School_** who will manage the budgetary needs of a portfolio of administrative School of Medicine (SOM) units and uses data to drive analyses that inform decisions around financial goals, objectives and performance. This role meets regularly with key stakeholders to ensure two-way communication for advocacy, knowledge transfer, and a shared understanding of financial activities. This role will report to Associate Director SOM Central Finance.

     

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    _Coordinates_

    + Meets regularly with Administrative SOM units to ensure two-way communication to create advocacy for units, knowledge transfer, and a shared understanding of financial activities.

    + Supports the budgetary needs of administrative units through complex analysis work that uses data to inform financial decisions.

    _Applies_

    + Obtains knowledge on the units and their financial activities through regular meetings and communications to determine how to advocate for units during conversations with JHM and JHU.

    _Creates/Prepares/Develops_

    + Assists in the preparation of budgets, variance analyses, and related analyses for administrative units, regularly synthesizing large amounts of data to reach results and formulate recommended actions.

    _Analyzes/Interprets_

    + Analyzes the financial activities of the units to assist in budget preparation and associated analyses.

    + Provides recommendations to critical financial business decisions. Extracts financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform related reviews.

    _Manages_

    + Manages the portfolio of administrative SOM units and the completeness and accuracy of their financial activities, specifically budget.

    _Problem Solving_

    + Advocates for Administrative Units to ensure they are receiving funding for their activities and can hire staff.

    _Thinking Critically_

    + Monitors financial metrics performance, develops models and reports, and ensures two-way communications with administrative units to determine their financial performance and if a corrective action plan is warranted.

    _Trains/Communicates_

    + Ensures administrative units have the necessary information, skills, and support to perform their financial activities.

    _Collaborates_

    + Partner with Director, Dean's Office, Other FP&A analysts; Administrative Units staff; JHM/JHU Budget, Central Finance, JHM/JHHS/JHU Finance.

    Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    + Advanced knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

    + Experience with other data reporting tools.

    + Communication, organizational, and analytic skills

    + Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.

    + Strong customer service orientation and focus on details, accuracy and meeting pre-determined deadlines.

    + Understanding of and commitment to the Johns Hopkin mission.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.

    + Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.

    + Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated knowledge of Pivot tables, formulas and other functions.

    + Additional education (master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in research financial management and clinical department business operations.

    + SAP accounting knowledge.

    + Experience in a complex organization.

    Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually ($86,500 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

    Employee group: Full Time

    Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8.30am-5.00pm

     

    Exempt Status: Exempt

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
