Serving Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, this position offers the opportunity to work in a certified Comprehensive Cardiac Center recognized by the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association. Use your skills in procedure/appointment scheduling, obtaining and scanning medical records, and insurance authorization to ensure seamless surgical coordination. In this role, there is the opportunity to -
+ Coordinate patient scheduling for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, ensuring timely arrangements.
+ Troubleshoot procedural and operational issues directly with the department to ensure smooth operations.
+ Monitor patient follow-up using Refract Tracker and EPIC, ensuring comprehensive care.
+ Prepare and forward all necessary admission reservations, including demographics and insurance information.
+ Discuss and coordinate financial arrangements, including pre-payment collections, before surgery.
+ Ensure informed consents are signed and document preoperative and postoperative instructions.
+ Provide patient education seminars and schedule physicians accordingly to meet patient needs.
+ Act as a liaison between patients and referring physicians, facilitating clear communication and support.
Required
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Completion of a medical assisting program or 2-4 years experience in a medical field
+ General knowledge of computer software and practice management databases
+ Strong organization, time management and interpersonal skills
+ Tact and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with physicians, patients and their families and other employees
+ Ability to deal compassionately and professionally with patients
+ Work independently and possess sound decision-making skills
+ Knowledge of insurance regulations, specifically Medicare, BC/BS, managed care plans and workers compensation carriers regarding scheduling and approval of surgical procedures
+ Ability to prioritize work demands
+ Ability to consistently maintain confidentiality with regards to all job assignments and related information
+ Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse
Preferred
+ Proficiency in medical terminology
+ Knowledge of the Epic practice management programs
+ Experience in procedure/appointment scheduling, obtaining medical records, scanning of medical records and insurance authorization
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
