    This Technician (PRN) position is located in the Pathology Department.

     

    This is an Unclassified appointment, no set length of employment, ineligible for benefit package, state retirement, holiday pay and leave earnings, compensation for number of hours worked only.

     

    Shift will be determined by the Department Supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Experience as a laboratory assistant, laboratory technical assistant, laboratory technician or blood bank phlebotomist .

     

    Job Concepts

     

    Performs venipuncture and phlebotomies, in keeping with standard protocol on patients to obtain blood for requested analysis.

     

    Observes donors for possible reactions.

     

    Prepares laboratory specimens such as blood, urine, stool and sputum for diagnostic evaluation.

     

    Prepares embeds, cuts, stains, mounts, labels and catalogues tissue sections.
