    WestRock's West Point paper mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary millwright skills for the West Point Mill.

    How you will impact WestRock:

    * Participate in all department safety programs.

    * Flexibility to work in a multi-craft role and contribute to accomplishing results in a team- based environment.

    * Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication.

    * Effective troubleshooting abilities.

    * Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings.

    * Ability to properly document repairs and inspections.

    * Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials & stores parts, enter work results, and complete work orders.

     

    Compensation & Career Growth

    We offer a clear, structured path for career advancement with competitive pay:

    \u2022Class 1 Helper: $33.05/hour. Promotion to Class C possible within 9-13 months based on performance.

    \u2022Class C: $35.11/hour. Eligible for Class B after 6 months.

    \u2022Class B: $37.10/hour. Promotion to Class A after 12 months.

    \u2022Class A: $39.71/hour. Final step to Class AAA ($42.80/hour) based on tenure and qualifications.

     

    Total Progression Time: 2.25-2.5 years (27-31 months) from Class 1 Helper to Class A.

    * Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques.

    * Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts.

    What you need to succeed:

    For a Class 1 Helper:

    * Five years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman mechanic\u2019s level, or

    * Two-year technical degree in mechanical technology, or four years\u2019 relevant technical military experience

    * Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work.

    For a Class A Journeyman:

    * Ten years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman mechanics or electrician/instrumentation level - or

    * Five years of relevant industrial or military experience and a two-year technical degree

    * Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work.
