The Public Engagement division at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is looking for a Public Engagement Liaison to coordinate the administration of the following statewide programs: Family and Community Engagement; Required Compulsory Instruction Reporting; and Nonpublic Education. This position also serves as MDE’s Liaison to the State of Minnesota’s Nonpublic Education Council. This council is established by Minnesota statute, section 123B.445 to advise the Commissioner of Education on issues affecting nonpublic schools.
Minimum Qualifications
Please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing school navigation services to students and families in public/nonpublic K-12 settings. These experiences should include program and policy interpretation, mediation and conflict resolution, and direct outreach to families and communities.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an ombudsperson/family advocate in public/nonpublic schools or in a city/state government setting or advising schools/districts on nonpublic education policies and issues or overseeing district processes to collect and submit required compulsory instruction reporting to MDE.
