Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Machinist to support full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious vessels/vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft/vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels/vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division's Combatant Craft Division

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following

+ Three (3) to Seven (7) years of experience as a machinist and in the repair machinery and mechanical equipment acquired through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

+ High school Diploma, trade/industrial school graduate, or GED equivalent required.

+ Current Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

+ Related military experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mid Level Machinist supports watercraft repair and modernization efforts through the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems. Responsibilities include:

+ Disassembly of machines mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble

+ Dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools

+ Repair or replacement of broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.

+ Experience in drafting written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops

+ Reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation.
