Description

Come help Amazon create and deploy latest new technologies to ensure customers get a world class delivery experience! As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) in the Last Mile Technology team, you will be instrumental in helping us create innovative ways to take packages from our fulfillment centers and get them quickly and cost-effectively to customers. The Last Mile Technology team supports multiple businesses globally creating the technology that supports deliveries for businesses such as Prime Now, Amazon Flex, Amazon Fresh, Amazon Logistics, Lockers, and other current and new initiatives.

Our engineers are top-notch software developers who love listening to the customers, working as a team, and proactively taking the lead whenever necessary. In this role, you will have an opportunity to own design and development for various services, working closely with research science and other partner teams to apply optimization and machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems.

As a technical leader, you will have influence over the long term strategic needs of the team, the short term tactical wins, and the tradeoffs between them. You will guide other team members to create robust, scalable designs, own development of critical path code, and lead processes that improve quality and reduce operational load on the team. As a person with a high technical bar, you will participate in people development and hiring, ensuring we're hiring the right type of people for the team's long term needs.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
