Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist with a strong background in the construction industry to join our team in Long Beach, California. This is a Contract to permanent position where you will play a key role in managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining accurate records for certified payroll reporting. If you have advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a deep understanding of prevailing wage requirements, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll accurately and on time for hourly employees, salaried staff, and subcontractors within the construction industry.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, ensuring compliance with Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage regulations.
• Conduct regular audits of payroll records to verify accuracy and adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws.
• Develop advanced Excel spreadsheets for payroll analysis, using formulas and pivot tables to streamline reporting.
• Collaborate with project managers, HR, and accounting teams to address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Communicate with government agencies and union representatives to ensure all payroll certifications meet compliance standards.
• Train and mentor entry-level staff on certified payroll processes and industry-specific software.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in labor laws and regulations that impact payroll compliance.
• Create detailed labor and cost analysis reports for project management and finance teams. Requirements • At least 5 years of payroll experience, with a focus on the construction industry.
• Certification in Payroll Administration, such as Certified Payroll Specialist (CPP).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
• Familiarity with payroll and accounting software, such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of prevailing wage regulations, certified payroll reporting, and the Davis-Bacon Act.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Experience with union payroll documentation and multi-state payroll processes is preferred.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
