Description

The Arc Mid-Hudson, one of the largest employers in the Hudson Valley, with over 1300 employees, with locations in Ulster, Greene, and Putnam Counties, has an immediate opening for a full-time Facilities Technician at our Palmer Center ICF location in Kingston.

As directed by the Director of Operations and Regional Director, the Facilities Technician is responsible for routine maintenance and general functions, performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties throughout all Palmer ICF buildings. Responsibilities include performing building and property maintenance, servicing and repair involving a variety of skill sets including, but not limited to:

+ Carpentry, masonry, dry wall taping, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, landscaping, flooring, paving, and repairs.

+ Operate fixed location machinery such as table saws, planers, grinders, etc. as well as uses handheld power tools, hand tools and pneumatic tools.

+ Responsible for snow and ice removal from paved surfaces which may involve shoveling, sweeping, operating snow blowers and/or trucks equipped with snow plows.

+ May be required to maintain grass/lawns, shrubs and trees.

+ May be required to climb ladders, work on scaffolding or on roofs.

+ Carry out preventive maintenance as directed and required.

+ There will also be times when work must be accomplished on off hours including evenings and/or weekends as required.

+ Expected to respond to emergency situations when requested.

+ Perform all job duties in a safe, efficient, professional manner.

+ Communicate effectively with all staff to ensure consistency, efficiency and follow through of the goals of the department.

+ Satisfactorily complete mandated training requirements as directed by their supervisor.

+ Must learn and remain up to date with NYS Office of Persons With Disabilities (OPWDD) building code and regulations as they pertain to physical plant maintenance.

+ Participate in in-service and other educational programs as requested; maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshop and professional affiliations.

HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/day hours, must be flexible

STARTING SALARY: $ 20.31 to $ 22.35 per hour

Minimum Requirements

+ High School Diploma or equivalent.

+ Three (3) years of experience in a skilled building/construction trade or facility maintenance including power tools and equipment.

+ Good knowledge of the New York State building Code and of common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions.

+ Ability learn NYS Office of Persons With Disabilities (OPWDD) building code and regulations as they pertain to physical plant maintenance.

+ Must be able to read plans and blueprints and be able to follow written and oral instructions.

+ Basic computer skills.

+ Must possess a valid New York State driver's license and a driving record acceptable to The Arc Mid-Hudson, their insurance company, and any other regulatory agencies.
