Job Summary

Respond to users, systems and communications needs by performing installation, maintenance and repair of complex security equipment. Plan or support projects with users and vendors. Interact seamlessly with various other Battelle support staff (Electrical Services, Facilities, etc.) to accomplish, maintain, and repair various Security Operations systems, devices, and installations, maintaining accurate maintenance records of the various security-related systems.

Responsibilities

+ Plan, organize, and implement complex systems or projects, including equipment installation, upgrades, and rearrangements, while maintaining accurate and current equipment maintenance files.

+ Interact with users to determine needs, improve system capabilities, evaluate special requests for hardware and software configurations, resolve inquiries and complaints, research internal customer issues and assist with client inspections.

+ Monitor computer control consoles to ensure operational status and maintain equipment by conducting annual system backup battery checks and replacements, regularly cleaning and adjusting security cameras and devices, and scheduling annual safety and maintenance inspections.

+ Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, coordinating with vendors and internal business operations to address software, hardware, and application issues.

+ Install, troubleshoot, and repair access control equipment, IP cameras, IDS equipment, cabling, and associated peripherals.

+ Configure and perform diagnostic assessments on security systems, peripherals, and equipment to ensure functionality and alignment with operational requirements.

+ Configure and administer software and related devices, ensuring proper functionality and integration with existing systems.

+ Teach and instruct users on the proper use of software applications, providing special upgrades, configurations, and programming as needed.

+ Provide technical system assistance to Incident Command during drills and events, ensuring readiness and compliance with safety standards.

Key Qualifications

+ Associates degree in electronics or electrical engineering or equivalent professional experience in the physical electronic security field.

+ Minimum of 5 years of security industry experience in enterprise level access control systems, enterprise level video management and camera systems, and commercial intrusion detection systems.

+ Expert knowledge of security equipment and security hardware, acquired through extensive prior experience, along with advanced troubleshooting skills.

+ High level of familiarity with network/IP communications relating to security systems

+ Ability to bend, lift, and transport security equipment, computers, and other peripherals; safely perform duties in various weather conditions; be able to work at heights using ladders, tow-behind aerial lifts, and bucket trucks; ability to drive Battelle vehicles, some travel between local office locations, and maintain a strong focus on safety while working in various office and laboratory environments.

+ US Citizen, valid driver’s license without restrictions, and ability to obtain required security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Working knowledge of Lenel Access Control and DMP intrusion detection systems.

+ Certification in Lenel access control, Milestone VMS, DMP, Hanwha, Axis

+ Proficiency or the ability to quickly become proficient in Milestone VMS.

+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

+ The ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
