    Job Description About Us BJK Peoples Health Centers is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adults in the northern and central parts of the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis City. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. BJK Peoples Health Centers operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth. DEPARTMENT: Outpatient Department REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Intake Coordinator is a professional who works with other clinicians to conduct intake assessments to determine the level of care or service needed. Additionally, acts as a service connector for clients needing services in the community mental health settings. This is a non-supervisory position that works directly with clients and is part of an interdisciplinary team serving clients in clinics and community settings PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Establish rapport with clients and collect information on client's mental health, trauma, social, legal, family, psychiatric and medical history, including a diagnostic impression * Provide clinical assessments for potential clients and providing clinical recommendations which best support the client's stabilization. * Completes all client reporting requirements and documentation consistent with corporate and regulatory standards. * Serves as a resource to other clinicians. * Applied knowledge and understanding of program, policies and procedures, and referral resources to assist others in resolving issues within scope of authority. * Provide case management or crises intervention as needed. * Conduct group and individual therapy sessions using an approved curriculum or therapeutic treatment model * Ensure clients receive the best clinical services and in a timely manner. * Maintains a commitment to evidenced based practice. * Additional tasks and duties as required. Skills requirements This Position requires excellent skills in active listening, understanding of DSM-IV framework, clinical assessment, crisis intervention and community resources. Effective oral and written communication skills and organization skills are essential, as well as the ability to: 1) work under pressure and meet deadlines; 2) adapt to workload demands and set priorities; 3) present a positive attitude and professional appearance 4) build rapport with clients and develop positive working relationships. Qualifications for this Position: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree (MUST) in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling with at least 2 years' experience in the assessment and treatment of community mental health. Licensed candidates are preferred.
