    Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a temporary _Construction Project Leader_ to join our 500kV Projects team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power.     What** **does a Construction Project Leader** **do** **for** **us?

     

    They provide supervision of the Boardman to Hemingway (B2H) construction inspection team. This position is responsible for managing a team of Idaho Power contract inspectors who will be monitoring the construction and technical aspects of B2H. This position will monitor overall schedule, construction progress, construction issues and impacts, specification adherence, and the overall performance construction inspection. They provide written reports to the B2H project management team on issues, progress, and construction contractor performance. They coordinate with the construction contractor to meet construction activity inspection requirements. They oversee construction activities to ensure conformance with B2H specifications, standards, and the contract. They use a team approach through participation in routine and periodic meetings and interfacing with internal and external customers and all levels of management. They may coordinate with the contractor Land Liaison to address landowner issues and help seek resolution.

    A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

    Knowledge of:

    + Electric utility construction and scheduling techniques

    + Construction methods applicable to project requirements

    Preferred:

    + Electric utility construction, scheduling, and software products

    + Concrete drilled pier construction

    + Lattice tower construction

    + 500-kV experience

    Skills in:

    + Excellent communication and coordination skills with employees, contractors, and customers

    + Scheduling, financial, and communication software products

    Ability to:

    + Represent Idaho Power’s interests during construction of project

    + Work independently with limited direction

    + Be self-motivated

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education:

    + Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field

    OR

    + Equivalent combination of education and experience

    Experience:

    + 4 years of journey-level work in distribution, transmission, or lines construction or design, **_including_** 1 year of project coordination experience

    Preferred:

    + 5 years of lines construction or design engineering, work as a foreman or as an inspector of electrical utility construction activities

    + 1 year of transmission inspection experience

    + Leadership experience

    Licenses & Certifications:

    + Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

    + Must obtain First Aid/CPR card within 90 days

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The position requires the ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, crawl, climb into and out of vehicles, ascend/ descend ladders, twist, kneel, balance and reach. Job requires the ability to work alone for long periods of time in the field, often in adverse weather conditions / temperatures, on uneven and slick terrain within proximity of energized equipment. Traverse across open trenches; frequently reaching below ground level, kneeling, and climbing. Continuous standing, walking, gripping, and bending when performing work in field. Maneuver and navigate around construction areas to inspect work performed. Drive in all weather conditions. Occasionally lift test equipment (up to 50 lbs.) chest and knee high; rarely lifting shoulder height and above items weighing up to 50 lbs. Rarely use exertional force pushing/pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs. to open three-phase sectors that are out of alignment. Carry with one or two hands items weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently use foot controls when operating vehicles, grasp, hold, and manipulate items, tools, or keyboards. Perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.
