The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a part-time Manager on Duty (MOD) at the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center. The ideal candidate is a confident leader with a strong customer service background, enjoys helping others, and is comfortable managing facility operations and providing support across multiple divisions.
Position Summary
The Manager on Duty (MOD) ensures smooth and safe facility operations by providing oversight and support during assigned shifts. The MOD assists members and guests with facility and membership needs, ensures staff coverage and coordination, and communicates important updates to supervisors. This role plays a critical part in delivering excellent service and maintaining a welcoming, efficient recreation environment.
Schedule
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling. Evening and weekend availability is required. Occasional holiday shifts may be needed.
Key Responsibilities
+ Serve as the on-site point of contact to support staff, members, and guests.
+ Respond to member needs related to accounts, check-ins, and point-of-sale transactions using RecTrac software.
+ Maintain knowledge of facility policies, services, and emergency procedures, including the use of communication systems (radios) and contacting EMS when necessary.
+ Assist with room or activity space preparation, including birthday party operations.
+ Conduct regular walkthroughs and safety inspections of equipment, supplies, and operational procedures.
+ Coordinate with facility maintenance staff to ensure a clean, safe environment.
+ Provide shift reports to supervisors with relevant observations, incidents, and staff feedback.
+ Handle customer concerns with professionalism, evaluate issues in real-time, and determine solutions that support both staff and guest satisfaction.
+ Communicate effectively with patrons, coworkers, and supervisors to support a high-functioning facility environment.
Qualifications
+ Minimum:
+ High school diploma or GED
+ Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six months of employment
+ Preferred:
+ One to two years of related experience in recreation, facility operations, or customer service
Starting rate of pay is $18.75 per hour.
Environment and Physical Factors: Work is performed indoors in a busy Activity Center. This position requires medium physical effort, including lifting and moving program-related supplies. Long periods of standing and occasional extended shifts may be required during special events.
Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
