Robert Half is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to help lead the charge in delivering cutting-edge IT solutions, infrastructure transformation, and cybersecurity improvements for our diverse client base. In this role, you'll work alongside internal teams and external stakeholders to handle sophisticated IT ecosystems, ensure smooth operations, and bolster security safeguards both strategically and tactically.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Collaborate with stakeholders and IT teams to provide recommendations on compliance initiatives including SOC 2, NIST, and HIPAA.

+ Manage documentation processes by creating and maintaining SOPs, delivering project updates, and cataloging client IT environments.

+ Tackle difficult technical challenges as a Tier 3 escalation resource across cloud platforms, M365, Windows/macOS systems, networking, and server ecosystems.

+ Mentor other engineers and play a key role in leading strategic projects for clients.

+ Assist in project execution for infrastructure updates such as cloud migrations, server system enhancements, and network redesigns.

+ Provide flexible support both remotely and on-premises while participating in an on-call rotation schedule.

+ Develop and implement cybersecurity measures like endpoint protection solutions, firewall optimizations, MDR tools, and Microsoft 365 hardening techniques.

+ Facilitate vulnerability management, including scans, patch prioritization, and designing remediation strategies.

+ Offer risk assessments, spearhead security reviews, and support audit preparation to ensure adherence to security standards for clients and internally.

+ Handle incident response activities, security alert triage, and post-incident audits using tools like CrowdStrike, Rapid7, or Cisco Umbrella.

+ Build out internal security frameworks to ensure a standardized defensive approach for all client environments.

+ Introduce process improvements and integrate innovative security tools to optimize operations.

+ Support KnowBe4 initiatives, including phishing tests and cybersecurity training campaigns tailored for client and employee use.

+ Contribute to the investigation of security-related events and identify root causes for incidents.

Requirements

Role Requirements

+ Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues efficiently, paired with strong analytical and cybersecurity knowledge.

+ Over five years of hands-on IT experience, especially within fast-paced consulting firms or similar environments.

+ Familiarity with networking concepts such as VLANs, VPNs, and firewall setups alongside expertise in Active Directory.

+ Proficiency in a broad range of IT solutions, including Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365, and cloud systems.

+ Self-motivated with exceptional time management skills, capable of juggling and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.

+ Outstanding interpersonal communication skills paired with project management expertise.

+ Flexibility and willingness to travel locally (within the Bay Area) for client support.

Preferred Skills and Credentials

+ Knowledge of compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, or NIST standards.

+ Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools or platforms such as SentinelOne, Proofpoint, KnowBe4, Liongard, or Rapid7.

+ Prior experience automating workflows using tools like PowerShell scripting.

+ Industry certifications like Microsoft Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Fortinet NSE are a plus.
