The role: The EHS Manager is t asked with suppo rting the EHS needs of their assigned business unit and driving a positive safety culture. They will develop and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulatory standards, and promote a safe working environment. This role will conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and provide recommendations to reduce risk.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Partnership and Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with team members, becoming a trusted member of the leadership team and advisor in all EHS matters.
+ Engage Workforce : Collaborate with team members and management to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
+ Manage EHS Programs : Continuously review, update, and oversee environmental, health, and safety processes to promote continuous improvement and proactive risk management.
+ Conduct Safety Inspections & Risk Assessments : Regularly inspect workplaces to identify and address hazards, recommending solutions to ensure a safe environment.
+ Ensure Regulatory Compliance : Monitor and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations through audits, documentation, and recordkeeping.
Additional Responsibilities:
+ Investigate Incidents : Lead thorough investigations into accidents or safety issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
+ Report & Track Metrics : Collect and analyze safety and environmental data, issuing reports on hazards, abatement actions, and performance metrics compared to goals and industry standards.
+ Training & Education : Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees to promote awareness and compliance.
+ Emergency Preparedness : Coordinate emergency response plans and drills to ensure readiness for potential incidents.
+ Travel as Needed : Visit company and client facilities to support EHS initiatives and compliance – travel requirements between 25-50%.
Required Experience and Skills:
+ 5+ years of experience in Safety or EHS role
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex EHS information to diverse audiences.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify safety hazards and communicate and implement effective solutions.
+ Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively with a sense of urgency.
+ Effectively work independently and as part of a team.
+ Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
+ Ability to travel between 25-50%
Preferred Experience and Skills:
+ Experience with hazardous material handling and disposal
+ Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional - CSP, Associate Safety Professional – ASP)
