    Job Summary

    Langan is seeking a Project Environmental Scientist to join its collaborative team in Austin, TX. This individual will serve a key function in performing the following, including but not limited to: wetland delineations, special status-species surveys, botanical surveys, nesting bird surveys, restoration monitoring, and biological construction monitoring throughout Texas. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work cross-collaboratively across our North American regions as part of a rapidly growing team with a strong project pipeline in land development, energy sector, and contaminated site remediation projects.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Perform wetland delineations and wetland field assessments, including feasibility assessments and regulatory delineations;

    + Perform nesting bird surveys, biological resources and habitat suitability assessments, vegetation communities classification and mapping, plant and animal species inventories, special status plant and animal species surveys, small mammals and special status flora assessments, jurisdictional wetland delineations, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys;

    + Develop permit application packages for Federal, State, and local agencies;

    + Coordinate with field teams and project managers to implement permit conditions;

    + Travel to job sites in remote locations;

    + Work in construction environments where schedule, timeliness, and attention to detail are top priorities; and

    + Performs other duties as requested.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor of Science degree in biology, wildlife, botany, ecology, environmental science or a closely related field;

    + 6+ years of related biological experience working in the Texas region;

    + Experience with one or more local sensitive species is highly desirable;

    + Experience with environmental regulations including NEPA, USACE, and similar;

    + Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Wetland Professional In-Training (WPIT) preferred;

    + Experience working with federal and state protected species, and permitting through USACE and USFW;

    + Experience using GPS units in the field with (use of Collector, Survey123), a plus;

    + Working knowledge of computers (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required;

    + ArcGIS and statistical software proficiency a plus;

    + Ability to travel and work extended hours, and able to work outside for long periods of time;

    + Valid 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification is desirable;

    + Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing; and

    + Local candidates preferred.
