Job Description

Determine financial liability for KPH patients, per the Michigan Mental Health Code, Administrative Rules, DCH Policies and Procedures, which includes verifying third party benefits, applying for health insurance benefits, if necessary, and determining county of liability/financial responsibility. Post patients medical claim liabilities and cash receipts into patients Care & Maintenance accounts (Accounts Receivable). Assist with reconciliations of patients Care & Maintenance accounts. Provide support to the accounting function of the Business Office on Reimbursement matters. Perform the hospitals Cashiering duties when needed.

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Position Location/Remote Office: This position is located at 1312 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, 49008 and the selected incumbent will be required to physically report to this office. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
o A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
o Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
