    Job Summary

    The Laboratory Technician will perform QA/QC duties at our Lippert aggregate plant by testing aggregate samples. This is a union position.

     

    Rate: 20.08 to 22.86 per union contract.

    Main Responsibilities

    + Promote safe work practices and an excellent safety culture

    + Responsible for safe and efficient operation of all equipment and tools

    + Participates in pre-shift safety huddles

    + Responsible for reporting incidents and accidents to supervisor or management

    + Maintain an open line of communication with team members to promote team productivity

    + Responsible to report to management and safety officer if any potential safety hazards

    + Required to take MSHA training upon hire and annually as well as to adhere to all MSHA regulations and guidelines

    + Testing of aggregate materials, sampling, absorption, LA Abrasion, specifications, un-compacted voids, sodium / magnesium loss, and crush counts

    Education

    + High School Diploma or GED

     

    Skills

     

    + Basic math skills

    + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with peers, management, and customers.

    + Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes

    + Adaptable to changing conditions

    + Computer, iPad, fax, fax, printer, and copier experience

    + Safety conscience and safety oriented

    + Some Mechanical and maintenance skills

    + Able to learn and use several types of software programs

    + Able to comprehend ASTM and AASHTO standards and procedures

    Physical Requirements

    + Will walk, stand and sit for periods of time

    + Work is performed in various weather conditions

    + May be required to climb steps or work at some heights

    + Able to lift / carry items
