Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) is seeking a Physician Supervisor to join our team!
The Physician Supervisor will lead the medical staff and serve as the Clinical Director for the Institution. In this position the Physician Supervisor will provide active and positive leadership to the facility medical staff while ensuring a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment is maintained. The Physician Supervisor will manage and directly supervise the medical staff, including other Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners. This position also leads the facility’s accreditation efforts and adherence to laws and regulations.
In addition to the leadership requirements, the Physician Supervisor will provide diagnostic, evaluation, and treatment services to patients at the facility. This will include creating and validating medication orders as well as requesting necessary testing according to patient needs. The Physician Supervisor will also participate in Treatment Team and will be considered the final authority for patient care.
This is a full-time HHS position with a Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. schedule, evening/weekend rotation, and on-call responsibilities. Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.
IMHI provides inpatient treatment and acute psychiatric services, includingindividualized treatment plans and support for children and adolescent patients to continue their education. Individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completion of an internship program and licensure as a physician by the State of Iowa.
