    Are you ready to lead transformational work in cloud architecture? The University of Washington (UW) is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Azure Cloud Architect to join our dynamic team.     **About the Role:** As an Azure Cloud Architect at UW, you will be at the forefront of strategic planning, systems thinking, and technical architecture. You will support engineers and software developers in designing, implementing, and managing complex cloud applications, systems, and infrastructure at an enterprise scale, with a focus on Microsoft products and the Azure cloud ecosystem. Your expertise will directly support the research, teaching, and administrative missions of the University, collaborating with architects, engineers, and business professionals to deliver core UW services.

    **Azure Migration Program:** The Azure Migration Program at UW is a large-scale initiative aimed at modernizing our IT infrastructure and enhancing our cloud capabilities. As part of this program, you will:

    + Lead the migration of critical applications and services to the Azure cloud, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

    + Implement cutting-edge Azure technologies such as Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Azure Resource Manager, Terraform and Bicep, and Azure SQL Database.

    + Drive cost optimization efforts by consolidating and standardizing Microsoft technologies where it makes sense, ensuring efficient use of resources and reducing operational costs.

    + Foster collaboration across distributed IT teams, leveraging new ways of working together to achieve common goals and enhance overall productivity. **Key Responsibilities:**

    + Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and management of complex cloud applications and systems.

    + Provide engineering and operational support leadership to technology managers and service teams delivering complex IT services.

    + Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex design, architecture, and integration problems.

    + Foster a culture of support and mentorship, focusing on nurturing strong, trust-based relationships. **Key Technical Requirements:**

    + Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

    + Five years of progressively responsible experience in cloud IT systems architecture, engineering, implementation, and support of enterprise-wide technology solutions and services.

    + Expertise in Azure cloud technologies and Microsoft products.

    + Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies, methodologies, tools, etc.

    + Excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
