About the Department
The Marketing and Communications Department set our brand tone. They construct and magnify stories and messages to help and inspire people through running, across advertising, media, brand strategy, creative materials, video, photography, race broadcasts, editorial, brand presentations, and multiple web and digital platforms. They connect with the world's best athletes and ambassadors to deepen NYRR's mission. They leverage channels ranging from international broadcasts to screens at our NYRR RUNCENTER, individual emails to mass media, and from digital journeys to race day signage.
The Marketing and Communications team connects NYRR's initiatives and innovations to the hearts and minds of our community, inspiring them to run for life. Broadcast & Video Production team oversees NYRR’s live television broadcasts, including the TCS New York City Marathon and United Airlines NYC Half, and manages the organizations video content creation with a focus on developing compelling and entertaining video content around existing events, programs, and initiatives to raise awareness, drive engagement, and attract monetization opportunities for the organization.
About the Position
We are seeking product driven, customer centric, tech savvy, dynamic individuals to support NYRR’s mobile app during our races. We launched a new, year-round app in March 2025 to help engage with, support and grow our community. The Mobile App Support Associate will partner with the team to become experts in app functionality. During races, they will monitor performance and partner with internal and external teams to solve any issues that arise.
This role will mainly be weekend work during our races, but there will be some in person weekday support (approximately 1-2 hours) to partner with team to fully understand the NYRR app, its components, and roadmap.
Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
+ Test app functionality and monitor performance before, during, and after race
+ Lead and communicate with weekend support team to track performance, identify issues and determine when to solve or share with broader team
+ Collaborate with team to understand NYRR app, its components and roadmaps
+ Support will primarily be through chat; phone calls if need to resolve issues
Job Requirements:
+ Experience working with technical teams
+ Familiarity with digital tracking and mobile apps
+ Past role working with digital products
+ Exposure to app testing
+ Comfortable testing NYRR app on both iOS and Android
+ Familiarity with mobile apps and fitness tracking
+ Experience working collaboratively with technical and business teams
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Problem solver
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to work weekends
Schedule:
+ Must be available to work up to 35 weekend race days in each calendar year (NYRR event calendar can be found here: https://www.nyrr.org/run/events-calendar)
+ Duration of shift varies by race and is typically ~4 hours; shift starts ~1 hour before race start time and ends once race concludes; estimated shift 7am-11am
Salary: 22.00/hour
NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
