Position Overview:
The **Director, Health and Safety Support Services** is responsible for driving the strategic initiatives of the Health and Safety Support Services Team to align with organizational needs and support the Health and Safety Department. Responsibilities include providing leadership for compliance, creating and managing documents, conducting program evaluations, modernizing operational activities, overseeing the reporting process, and effectively utilizing health and safety information system resources. Additionally, the role involves implementing and managing drug testing policies, overseeing bids with a focus on cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the integrity of third-party information system support.
The **Director, Health and Safety Support Services** is an exempt, full-time employee position. This position will report to our corporate headquarters in Kent, Ohio.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
+ Interview, hire, and terminate employees.
+ Plan, assign, and direct work.
+ Appraise performance.
+ Reward and discipline employees.
+ Address complaints and resolve problems.
+ Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions*):
+ Oversee team initiatives to align with organizational needs, ensuring compliance, creating documents, facilitating activities, evaluating success, and promptly addressing issues.*
+ Oversee and actively facilitate collaboration with the Health and Safety Department to ensure comprehensive support.*
+ Recommend, develop, and modernize standard operational practices to align with current operational requirements.*
+ Oversee new and existing safety training reporting process, utilizing data and analytics.*
+ Facilitate regular coordination with Company's Environmental Programs and Claims Departments, ensuring interdepartmental collaboration for various evaluation and assessment programs.*
+ Oversee and facilitate health and safety information system resources for the provision, consolidation, and generation of reports, integrating information into technology tools for streamlined data management.*
+ Develop, implement, and manage drug testing, pre-employment testing, and Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and initiatives.*
+ Oversee bids, ensuring cross functional collaboration.*
+ Oversee third party information systems support, ensuring collaboration, consistency, and integrity.*
+ Develop, present, and manage the annual workplan, ensuring accountability for the successful execution of department initiatives.*
+ Exercise financial oversight in the creation and management of the department's budget.*
+ Exercise effective time management to meet deadlines consistently.*
+ Employ problem-solving skills and strategic prioritization to address challenges.*
+ Monitor and assess the success of team initiatives and programs, promptly addressing issues as they arise.*
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.
+ Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.

Education and Experience:
+ Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, Master's Degree preferred.
+ Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer or software programs necessary to complete job duties.
+ Preferred: Ten years of safety leadership experience.
+ Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP).
+ Required: Ability to work in-office at the corporate headquarters in Kent, Ohio.

This position will have some travel as needed, not on a consistent basis.
