    Robotics Engineering Internship (Part-Time - Not to exceed 29 hours per week)

    Job Summary: Assist the research & development (R&D) division with the autonomous solutions of SimIS' ground and water-based autonomous platforms.

     

    + Assist with the development of software/firmware for autonomous systems

    + Develop software to interface sonar, LIDAR, and camera sensors to the on-board CPU

    + Develop software for navigation, obstacle tracking and avoidance, as well as system management, and on-board health monitoring

    Required Experience:

    + Familiarity with ROS development using C/C++ and python.

    + Familiarity with basic robotics concepts for both land and sea platforms as well as familiarity with robotic sensors such as sonar, LIDAR, and vision based object tracking.

    + Desired skills with autonomous robotics concepts such as occupancy grid generation, position estimation and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).

    Requirements:

    + Candidate must have GPA of 2.5 or higher

    + Candidate must be at least 18 years of age

    + Candidate must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week not to exceed 29 hours

     

    SimIS does not provide housing or transportation.

     

    Education Required: Pursuing Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree in Engineering or related discipline

     

    Travel: Minimal if any.
