    The Functional Neurosurgery Program Manager has dual responsibilities of program leadership and clinical practice for the Movement Disorders and Epilepsy Surgical programs that support functional neurosurgery.

     

    1. **The Functional Neurosurgery Program Manager component of the role is responsible for providing leadership, expertise, collaboration, consultation and mentorship for the team responsible for promoting evidence-based care of the deep brain stimulation and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the movement disorder patient population and manages the neurosurgical clinical coordination for surgical epilepsy patients including managing best practice patient care coordination of Epilepsy Monitoring Unit patients. The Functional Neurosurgery Program Manager supports organizational goals and works with the Chief of Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurophysiologist, the neurology Regional Epilepsy Director and the interdisciplinary clinical team to achieve optimal standards of care with measurable identified outcomes.**

    2. **The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) component of the role is a clinical expert and patient advocate. This position manages a group of clinically complex or resource intensive patients. The APN is responsible for collaboration with the care team in the post-operative management of the implanted DBS systems, HIFU patients, and complex epilepsy surgical patients. The APN works with Neurologists and Neuropsiologist to adjust the DBS contact configurations and stimulating parameters, to optimize symptom benefit and minimize side effects. The APN also supports post surgical evaluation of epilepsy surgical patients in the EMU and in clinic as needed. The APN provides clinical care to patients impacted by movement disorders, Epilepsy, and neurologic conditions. Performs the role of advanced practice nurse through clinical practice, education, research and consultation with multidisciplinary groups utilizing a holistic approach to wellness.**

    3. **The Functional Neurosurgery Program manager is focused on service line leadership to the OR based and promotes best practice related to an area such as neuroscience and ensures appropriate competency of team members. This requires subspecialty knowledge and education to staff only and coordinates one consistent area.**

    4. **The Functional Neurosurgery position is asking someone to develop and support best practice subspecialty functional neurosurgery and manage the infrastructure, community outreach, and education to the nursing department and OR. This individual needs to build out protocols for the subspecialty service line, see patients, assist in hiring and managing a team that leads to offering a new service, provide OR support for new procedures, provide education to the nursing floor and OR teams, manage post op patients and develop care plans, and assist leadership in strategic planning to build out a program**

    Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required** **:

    1.Graduate of NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing

    1. Master's Degree

    2. 10+ years of Experience as an APN

    3. 7+ Years of Experience in Neuroscience specialty

    4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    5. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
