This is a temporary part-time, non-exempt position. Shiftwork is tied to this position including day, night, evening, weekends, and holidays.

Shift Information:
The potential shifts for this position are 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. OR 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
This position will most likely be assigned to the 8:15 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. shift.
Please note: Shifts will vary based on the needs of the department.
DUTIES:
+ Prepare soups, gravies and sauces as indicated on the menu. Bake both quick and yeast bread. Prepare entrée and side dishes. Prepare desserts and other pastry products. Prepare assorted salads as directed. Set up and serve steam table. Set up room trays checking for accuracy of therapeutic diets. Serve portion size as indicated on the menu. Check the correct temperature of food items. Maintain temperature charts for food and refrigeration, and meal count tally. Prepare coffee, juice, nourishments and salads. Dish desserts and salads and butter bread. Assist with dining room service as needed. Bus tables. Operate dish machine. Sort and stack dishes. Maintain temperature chart. Peel and pare vegetables. Prepare modified diet items. Keep updated on new diet orders.
+ Duty Sanitation. Responsible for the sanitation of serving line. Clean and sanitize kitchen work area. Check and restock supplies according to menu. Sweep floor, Wash pots and pans. Clean and sanitize dining room, i.e. floors, carts, walls. Empty trash.
Attend mandatory and non-mandatory in-services and ongoing training program.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Experience:
+ 6 months of experience in an occupational field related to the work (ie. long-term or assisted care living centers, school cafeteria, correctional facility food services, Fast food, Restaurant services, etc)
Substitution:
+ Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Possession of Food Certification(s)
+ Cooking Experience
+ Experience working in a long-term care environment
+ Ability to work effectively as a team member
+ Detail-Oriented
Conditions of Employment:
+ Full Background: CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
+ Must pass TB test.
+ This position is considered "essential service" and you will be required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
+ This position has shift work: day, evening, varying, , rotating, and Holidays.
+ This position may require use, handling, or exposure to hazardous materials, including oven cleaner, sanitizer and bleach.
+ Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
+ On or after October 31, 2021, each facility shall ensure all newly hired employees or support staff members are fully vaccinated at the time of hire or receive their first dose of a two-dose protocol, or a single-dose vaccination, prior to providing any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its clients. Upon hire, new employees will have three (3) business days to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination. Vaccinated employees must provide proof of first dose prior to providing care.
+ Note: Fully Vaccinated means two (2) weeks after a second dose in a two-dose series of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as the Pfizer, Moderna or Novavax vaccine, or two (2) weeks after the single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
