We are seeking a motivated, passionate, personable auditor to join our team in our Lakewood office. CDOR Internal Audit is a team of professionals passionate about making a difference for positive change in our organization. We provide audit services, consulting services, conduct internal investigations, and monitoring/analytics services to the Department's business groups with a passion for excellence, customer service, and fun. The professional in this position is responsible for conducting performance, compliance and IT security audits, administrative investigations, risk assessments and consultations, monitoring systems and evaluating technology:

     

    + Plans and conducts internal audits, consultations, data mining projects, and inquiries of the various divisions, sections and programs in the Department as assigned. This includes interviewing, gathering data, and analyzing the information obtained in order to detect and discover problems or noncompliance with statutes, regulations, DOR policies and procedures, best practices and accounting standards.

    + Based on specific circumstances arising during audit test work, formulates or designs audit steps to efficiently and effectively test records. Recommends audit approaches and completes the audit program by drafting work papers, findings, proposed recommendations and audit reports.

    + Maintains collaborative working relationships across the organization.

    + Manages and coordinates all aspects of administrative investigations into assigned allegations of policy violations and fraud.

    + Performs first level review of work papers prepared by audit staff.

    + Provides technical user and administrative support to the Internal Audit Section.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience Only: Seven (7) years of full -time professional experience designing, managing and conducting audits; or

     

    Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in audit equal to seven (7) years.

     

    *Current, valid licensure as a CPA from the Colorado Board of Accountancy or current, valid CIA certificate will substitute for five (5) years of the requirement

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

    + Prior investigative experience

    + Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), sound judgment, analytical/problem solving skills, effective team leadership and customer service

    + CPA, CIA, CISA or CFE designation

    + Experience developing and maintaining SQL data queries

    + Experience working with large, complex IT systems

    + More than the required amount of experience in performing compliance audits

    + Familiarity with audit standards and best practices, including GAGAS/GAAS/Yellow Book, IIA Standards, ISACA Standards, etc.

    + Professional auditing experience in a regulatory environment

    + Experience with Google Suite products (e.g., Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Doc, etc.)

    + Experience with TeamMate audit management software

    + Prior experience using one of the CDOR information systems (e.g. GenTax, DRIVES, MLO).

    Conditions of Employment with the CDOR :

    Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

     

    As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations .

    + Have an assigned State fleet vehicle

    + Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position

    + Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
