About this Position:
The person in this position will have a complete working knowledge of all laws, procedures, issues and firms that are regulated by the fertilizer and bulk storage unit. This position will perform the program area’s routine field activities in support of the program staff, and field supervisor including, but not limited to inspections, investigations, and sampling. Perform field duties to ensure compliance in fertilizer, lime and bulk storage of agrichemical programs; providing regulatory outreach and education; and providing documentation for enforcement responses. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all the enabling legislation, policies and procedures for conducting inspections or investigation. Completes reports in an approved, uniform manner to always assure consistency. Elevates issues to unit leadership as needed. Provides regulatory insight on the regulated businesses to the unit’s leadership. The successful inspector will be able to relate all inspection results, objectives, deficiencies and be able to engage in productive communication with the regulated community.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in agronomy, agriculture technology, agriscience, biology, botany, crop science, entomology soil science, horticulture, forestry, landscape architecture, plant biology, plant pathology, plant science, or plant physiology.

Two years of professional experience in enforcing and/or complying with the laws and regulations pertaining to pesticide use, insects, pests, and plant diseases in agricultural commodities and horticultural stock equivalent to a Plant Industry Field Scientist, including one year equivalent to a Plant Industry Field Scientist 10.
