* Inspect unit for compliance with unit/departmental policies, procedures, regulations, and standards. Takes measures to correct and report when violations occur.
* Reads, and complies with, established Hospital Policies and Procedures and department memos.
* Maintains, with compliance to, all requirements elated to JCAHO, HRS, and other regulatory agencies.
* Serves as a coach/mentor in recommending personnel actions such as promotions, clinical ladder advancement and transfers.
* Ensures Associate mandatory requirements are completed
Finance
* Monitor workflow and productivity trends and take appropriate actions.
* Assures cost-effective utilization of supplies and equipment.
* Assure adequete quanity of supplies and proper functioning equipment.
* Coordinate and adjust work schedules to meet the needs of the unit. Work with Administrative Director and Staffing Office on staffing issues as they arise to assure that unit needs are met. Approves incremental overtime and permits staff to leave early to meet the needs of the unit and maintains budgetary compliance.
* Review and analyze biweekly flexed budgets and take necessary corrective actions for variances. Provides input into annual budget process.
Education & Qualifications
*Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
* Specialty certification desirable.
* Previous experience as regular Charge Nurse or Assistant Head Nurse level on a nursing unit required.
* Strong leadership traits, as well as experience with staffing, scheduling, and strong communication skills necessary.
Licensure:
* Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Florida
