    Job Title: Data Center Technician- - Technical IT 2

     

    Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite

    Shift:

    • Day Shift A: 12-hour shifts (Sun-Wed) & (Sun-Tue)

    • Day Shift B: 12-hour shifts (Thu-Sat) & (Wed-Sat)

    • Night Shift B: 12-hour shifts (Thu-Sat) & (Wed-Sat)

     

    Pay Range: $20/hr. - $24/hr.

     

    The main function of the Data Center Technician is to monitor software processing for business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions. This position requires performing hardware setup, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and reporting incidents while ensuring that all tasks follow standard protocols and safety guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Hardware Preparation and Setup:

    o Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of racks, hard drives, switches, and other hardware components following specific instructions, checklists, guides, and standard protocols.

    o Perform post-execution quality checks to verify proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.

    • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

    o Follow standard procedures to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues, quickly identifying causes and replacing faulty components.

    • Decommissioning and Refresh:

    o Decommission hardware for simple changes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.

    • Incident Reporting and Escalation:

    o Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads in a timely manner.

    • Monitoring:

    o Monitor systems for equipment failure or errors in performance, responding to program error messages and addressing issues as needed.

    o Help programmers and systems analysts test and debug new programs.

    • Software Operation:

    o Operate spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and produce reports.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

    • 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

    • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

    • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and holidays.

    • Previous data center experience is a plus.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree in computer programming or equivalent training required.

    • 2-4 years of experience required.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
