    Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) Faculty Position

     

    The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for a fulltime faculty position in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program in the Department of Social Work in the Liffrig Family School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. This is an onsite faculty position but based on the qualifications of the candidate a remote faculty position will be considered.

     

    The MSW faculty position is a full-time faculty rank 11-month position that includes teaching and advising responsibilities in the MSW Graduate Program. This position is directly responsible to the MSW Program Director and Chair of the Social Work Programs. The MSW full-time faculty position will teach fall/spring/summer of core and/or elective social work courses throughout the academic year with primary emphasis on generalist, clinical and macro practice and leadership courses in the MSW program.

     

    F aculty members are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see https://www.umary.edu/about/mission-identity ).

    Education Requirements:

    + Earned doctorate in Social Work (Ph.D./DSW) or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.

    + MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program

    + ABD candidates will be considered if degree conferred prior to start of fall 2025 semester.

    Required:

    + Successful teaching experience in undergraduate or graduate social work courses

    + Two years practice experience in social work

    + Licensed Social Worker in the state of North Dakota or able to become licensed in the state of North Dakota prior to hire date

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Knowledge of and commitment to the NASW Code of Ethics.

    + Knowledge and Skills in using Canvas and Microsoft Software products

    + Understanding how to use digital and interactive technologies for efficiently and effectively achieving specific learning goals

    + Knowledge and ability to use technology in various teaching modalities (e.g., Face-to-face, synchronous online or asynchronous online).

    + Knowledge of critical thinking processes and understanding how to help learners develop high level questioning skills.

    + Knowledge and skill in the use of inquiry-based instructional models and strategies.

    + Ability to collaborate with stakeholders both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction, resulting in improved student learning.

    + Strong Communication, Time Management, Interpersonal and Team Building Skills

    + Familiarity and experience in social work offered in midwestern states

    + Teaching in programs that are delivered to students across multiple states with necessity to consider regulations and requirements in bordering states

     

    Uphold and supports the Christian Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary

     

    Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.

     

    Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.
