GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
Performs entry-level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout the City. Performs assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for successful performance. Specific activities vary by department. Work is performed under direct supervision.
This internship is at the City Clerk’s Office located in City Hall at 228 South Massachusetts Avenue in Lakeland, FL. Interns will work a maximum of 20 hours a week. The time period for this internship can range from early June to mid- August.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Assist with archiving various documents in OnBase
+ Working on Microfilm project
+ Operating Large format scanner
+ Tracking archiving duties with Microsoft Excel
+ Able to work afternoons
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Perform related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE)
High School Intern: Enrolled as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in an accredited high school

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
+ Must be at least 16 years old
+ Ability to work 1 pm -5 pm
+ Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City employees, and the public.
+ Knowledge of or ability to learn Microsoft Office Suites.
+ Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing and to request clarification when needed.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Requires some sedentary work and work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis, and routine keyboard operations. Requires some active work involving recurring heavy lifting of storage boxes (up to twenty pounds) during accession, retrieval and disposal activities.
+ The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards.
+ The job requires normal visual acuity, field of vision, hearing, and speaking.
