Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Float)
Job Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position requires traveling to different locations to support the team wherever needed.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
+ Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ WA state Phlebotomy license.
+ Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients preferred
+ Available and open to float between clinics as needed
Work Environment
The position requires availability Monday to Friday, between 7 AM and 7 PM, depending on the location you are asked to cover. The role involves working within a team of 3-4 people and traveling between locations, primarily within the Tacoma or Burien area, but could extend from Burien to Gig Harbor. You will help fill in at PSC and IOP locations throughout the health system, addressing open shifts, FMLA, or sick calls. Training will initially occur in Seattle for two weeks before moving to the designated work location, with mileage expenses covered for travel during training.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
