Job Description
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for performing both qualitative and quantitative testing on raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and other samples. The role focuses on ensuring quality control, aiding product development, and maintaining regulatory conformance.
Responsibilities
+ Analyze raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using FCC, USP, and AOAC wet chemical and instrumental testing methods.
+ Perform microbiological testing as trained and required.
+ Provide first-line operation and day-to-day instrument and data system maintenance and calibration.
+ Validate test instruments and methods as required.
+ Conduct project analysis in support of QA, QC, Divisional, and Regulatory requirements.
+ Assist other departments and lab members with analytical testing and results.
+ Conform to documented roles and responsibilities for the position.
+ Maintain timely and complete test method certification.
+ Fulfill all related quality testing and quality process responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in wet chemistry and general lab techniques.
+ Experience in quality control and assurance processes.
+ Knowledge of microbiology testing.
+ Understanding of Quality Systems: GLP, SQF, ISO-9001, HACCP.
+ Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ BS or BA in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or a related field with coursework in Chemistry.
+ Alternatively, 3-5 years of experience in food quality if no degree is held.
Work Environment
This position is based in a laboratory environment and operates on a third shift with a flexible start time between 9 PM and 7:30 AM. Initial training will occur over one week on the first shift (8 AM - 4:30 PM), followed by one month on the second shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
