Job Title: Building Engineer - Grounds Maintenance
Job Description
We are seeking a versatile Building Engineer to manage campus grounds maintenance. The ideal candidate will handle warehouse duties, including loading and unloading equipment, and maintaining mowing equipment such as sharpening blades, oil changes, and tire rotations. This position is ideal for lube techs, mechanics, or warehouse workers who possess mechanical skills. This is a first shift position.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain, service, diagnose, repair, and overhaul all campus fleet equipment and vehicles to ensure safety and efficiency.
+ Provide support to the Grounds Department as directed by the supervisor.
+ Fabricate and repair special items from other department equipment as needed and determine when outside services are necessary.
+ Repair and maintain gas, diesel, hydrostatic-powered equipment, and various groundskeeping equipment.
+ Plan and organize daily work in coordination with the supervisor, requiring assistance to other campus areas, including event set-up, deliveries, and tent set-ups.
+ Perform all duties and tasks required of a mechanic, including safe operation of all machinery.
+ Assist with snow and ice removal operations at any time, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Maintain neat and clean work areas to provide a safe and aesthetic work environment.
+ Communicate and cooperate with all campus personnel by demonstrating a courteous and helpful attitude while assisting with equipment needs.
+ Work in, on, and under machinery and vehicles, requiring frequent physical exertion.
+ Tolerate a wide variety of conditions and materials including dust, grease, fluids, aerosols, fumes, gases, and loud noise.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in diesel, electrical, groundskeeping, landscaping, landscape repair, and small engine repair.
+ Mechanic skills including troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
+ Facilities maintenance and landscaping/snow removal expertise.
+ Proficiency in engine repair and diagnostics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to prioritize work and communicate scheduling services.
+ Problem-solving, analysis, troubleshooting, and diagnostic abilities.
+ Capability to maintain a clean and orderly workspace for organization, efficiency, and safety.
+ Proficiency in using several computer programs.
+ Attention to detail in work tasks and record-keeping.
+ Specialized mechanical abilities essential for preventing equipment damage.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
