We are looking for a talented accounting and collections professional who wants to excel in an environment of operational excellence at our San Jose, CA.
Key Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
+ Under the direction of the District Controller, monitors Accounts Receivable aging and identifies past due accounts
+ Knowledge in developing and implementing collection policies to optimize recovery and reduce bad debt and DSO
+ Oversee and manage the daily activities of the collections team including AP/AR/billing.
+ A strong understanding of 1st party collection laws and regulations (e.g., FDCPA, FRCA) is recommended
+ Ability to negotiate payment arrangements and settlements, handle customer call escalations
+ Proficient in Excel.
+ Auditing customer accounts and verifying for accuracy and legitimacy
+ Participate in monthly financial forecast and close for bad debt amounts
+ Gathers records such as purchase orders, sales tickets & charge slips in order to verify billing
+ Learn and utilize all billing tools available

+ Supervise personnel, which typically include hiring, firing and performance management through employee evaluations, training, work allocation, problem resolution and enforcing progressive discipline.
+ Approaching all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
+ Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
+ Knowledge of accounting procedures
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
+ Knowledge of management principles and practices
+ Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
+ Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
+ Manage daily administrative operations of the accounting department including establishing work priorities; assist in resolving problems related to the day-to-day operations of the accounting team.
+ Oversee, coordinate, maintain, and/or process payroll time sheets, sick and annual leave documents, travel reimbursements, purchasing documents, and/or employment documents for faculty, staff, and students
+ Oversee and provide personal computer functions such as scheduled and special reports, correspondence, and database management.
+ Coordinate office assignments for the accounting staff
+ Promote Waste Connections standard operating procedures, which assure efficient environmentally correct and safe workplace practices.
+ Demonstrate the ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems.
+ Other duties assigned as needed
To be considered for this position you must have:
+ 2+ years of general accounting experience
+ 2+ years of collections experience
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ General understanding of accounting practices and principles
+ Bachelors Degree preferred
+ Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
+ Knowledge of management principles and practices
Salary:
Base: $80,000-$83,000 Annually
