Assist in the overall coordination, direction, operation, and be the primary contact for scheduling of the Travis J. Clark (Achilles Center) Strength Training Facility, for an NCAA Strength and Conditioning Program for both men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic teams.
Position Title: Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time (12 months).
Supervisor: Head Coach Strength and Conditioning
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
+ Assist in designing, instructing, and supervising student athletes in proper techniques of strength training movements, aerobic/anaerobic conditioning, speed development, power development, flexibility, nutritional education, and testing and evaluation protocols. Meet and consult with Team Staff/s to create specific-programming to team and individual needs.
+ Work in conjunction with the athletic training staff and team physicians in regards to effective rehabilitation, lateralization strategies for training, and treatment programs for injured and return to sport student-athletes.
+ Supervise and schedule work-study students.
+ Create and maintain a clean, organized, properly functioning gym space and keep proper records/databases from athletic programming.
+ Adhere to the highest standards of integrity and work in compliance with all University, Liberty League, ECAC, and NCAA D1 and D3 rules and regulations .
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree required and Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience required. Learned knowledge and skills to support a variety of routine tasks requiring some degree of difficulty.
+ NSCA - CSCS or CSCCa - SSSC Certification Required.
+ Thorough understanding and working knowledge of federal, state, local, and NCAA rules (D1 and D3), policies and procedures required.
+ Ability to lift 30 pounds required.
+ Display a comprehensive and functional knowledge of strength and conditioning. Have the ability to assist/lead training and practice sessions, provide leadership for student-athletes, interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the College community and the public.
+ Possess strong independent organizational; interpersonal; oral communication, and computer skills.
+ Proficient with Microsoft office applications, data collection, evaluation, and interpretation.
+ Ability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends.
+ The ability to foster and enhance a thriving, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, alumni, faculty, and staff colleagues.
+ Able to anticipate, deliver on, and exceed the expectations for Athletic Administration, Coaching Staffs, Athletic Training, Student-Athletes, and Head S&C Coach.
+ Able to introduce and drive innovation in ways small and large.
+ Able to proactively identify and pursue relevant learning and professional development opportunities and apply new knowledge, insights, and skills to enhance results.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree preferred.
+ Advanced Certifications Preferred. USA-W, FMS, FRC-ms, etc.
+ Experience with Sport Science applications, advanced Excel programming and individualization skills, mobile app. programming, and experience with men’s and women’s team training, preferred.
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $45,000-$47,000 annually. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
