Job Summary
Join our dynamic Building Services Division as a Plan Review Supervisor, where you'll lead a dedicated team in shaping the future of our community. From initial plan submission to final occupancy, you'll oversee the entire development process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and exceptional customer service. As a part of the Building Services Division the Plan Review Supervisor is an integral team player in community building. Manages subordinate Permit Specialist, Plan Review Specialist and Development Specialist. Provides oversight for all plan reviews and coordinates those reviews from other departments. Provides management from the time plans are submitted until Certificate of Occupancy is issued, which includes the permit counter, review process, permit issuance, inspections, and project completion. Works directly with other city departments to ensure quality control throughout the development process to enhance the overall customer experience. Works to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community while providing outstanding service to customers both internal and external. Provides outstanding and creative leadership to all Building Services personnel under the direction of the Chief Building Official. The Plan Review Supervisor will positively affect the overall development experience for all customers. Directly assists the Chief Building Official in all aspects of the Building Services Division.
Duties
+ Coordinates the efforts of Plans Review Specialist, Permit Specialist and Development Specialist for the betterment of the overall development process. Works with associated departments to ensure the integrity of the overall customer development experience.
+ Reviews, writes and implements new processes to create better customer service throughout the development process under the direction of the Chief Building Official.
+ Provides great customer service by responding to questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
+ Works in conjunction with the Chief Building Official to manage the development process from plan submittal through Certificate of Occupancy.
+ Stays up to date on the content of International Building Codes, State regulations, and the actions of benchmark Texas cities on building code standards as well as inspection and enforcement practices.
+ Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
+ Five years of progressive experience as an architect, engineer, inspector, building contractor, or plans examiner.
+ State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License.
+ Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
+ Working knowledge of the International Building Codes, National Electric Codes, etc.
OR
+ An equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred:
+ Experience working with municipalities.
+ Strong building code enforcement experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of development and construction practices, procedures and requirements. Knowledge of building construction codes, development standards and licensing laws. Ability to supervise, teach and train employees. Ability to interact appropriately with co-workers and the public. Ability to oversee the development process within Planning and Development Services through permit tracking, plans examination, and customer interaction.
